So I was a major Foo Fighters fan/was on their street team and learned about an opportunity to be an extra on the bridge throwing version of Times Like These. He has an Angry Somaoans t-shirt on. Somehow I got talked into being a double for Nate Mendel, so I did not get a chance to wear the cool angry samoans t-shirt. It was another time and another place. The internet doesn't remember it, so it wasn't true. hehe.
I know nothing about celebrities. Try to avoid them. BUT, Dave Grohl legitimately seems like the nicest guy on the planet. Great story, RTB!!! ๐

That is a cool story. Is this the video? If so, what's the timestamp for your fifteen seconds of fame? Looks like a t-shirt of The Sounds and not Angry Samoans, fwiw. _________________ Join us in the canon game :) / Add me on RYM

Yeah you are right... I wonder if it was at lunch he was wearing an angry somoans t-shirt... all I know for sure is Dave Grohl first introduced me to Angry Samoans because I thought it was such a cool band name. But yeah, basically any shots where they are throwing stuff at the band (top down view). I was on the left as Nate Mendel. Of course you aren't going to have the band accidentally get hit by stuff, right? hehe. I was also on the bridge for one of those bigger group things, but you can't see me. It was pretty cool to see them blow that stuff up too. But yeah, when they asked me to put on his clothes I was like uh, ok. Band only shot for one day, but the rest was filmed over 2-3 days.
But yeah probs more like millisecond and nobody can really tell.
Worst part is I took pictures of it all, and saved it on my mom's computer (I was like 18), and then 6 months later her computer died and I lost all those photos to prove it ๐
Damn RTB that's a cool story. Something to tell the kids and BEA freaks. Also a good motivation to safely store digital data on multiple locations ๐คฃ _________________ Overall chart Fake overall chart
Setting: Two words. Country legend. He was one of the best and most prolific country artists in the mid-late 60s and early 70s. And then his stock took just the tiniest of dips until he jumped labels and moved to MCA in the late 70s. The move did him wonders perhaps attributed to teaming up with legendary Nashville producer Jimmy Bowen. In 1979, he put out Serving 190 Proof which includes some of my favorite country tracks of the 70s โ โGot Lonely Too Early This Morningโ, โFootlightsโ, โHeaven was a Drink of Wineโ. Can Bowen and Hag keep the streak going in 1980?
The Listen: Hell yeah! In fact, Hag got even better on Back To The Barrooms. Simply one of the best post-breakup albums of all time. Listening to it is like drinking whiskey with one of your closest friends. Not just some random barkeep whoโs half listening & half serving other customers. No. Someone who looks you straight in the eye and hears every word as you pour out your woe while he pours even more whiskey. Filling you up not just with booze but affirmation. That love can really tear you apart but weโre going to get back out there and try again, aren't we. Just after this bottle is done.
Verdict. You know this is going in. Hag still had it. And I almost feel he made this for me as I stumble & stagger around in this post-breakup haze. One of best country albums of the entire 80s.

2. Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden (Metal, NWOBHM)

excellent (and unexpected) pick and review for the 1980 albums! Loved it. Glad it and Merle are there for you! I myself I am ashamed to admit have never heard this album or any LPs post 1970 by Haggard. Outside of his 2005ish album Chicago Wind which I on a whim bought when i was 16 shopping around Vintage Vinyl and saw this icon had a new album out. Its pretty good if i recall correctly _________________ -Ryan

Just googled Chicago Wind, and it's also produced by Jimmy Bowen. Those two definitely clicked. I'll check it out today! ๐

It's good. Although songs like "Where's All The Freedom" makes me retch a little bit. Pretty weird to hear a super successful old white male Christian who was given a ton of second chances have a persecution complex in America, but that's exactly the sentiment that Trump tapped into. Hag feels that "his" country has been taken from him and people like him. With zero realization that's it's more of an equalization so that other people (with different faiths for instance) are not actually persecuted. So it's a good album to get the other perspective in a way and get a sense of where all that anger (that Trump capably exploited for his own gain) is coming from.

I mean that song is indeed a bit awkward but itโs a reflection of Bush-era Patriot Act abuses of power that were indeed taking certain freedoms away. That is how I always read it. Something conservatives and liberals both werenโt too hot on. But generally donโt like when celebs preach politics whether right or left, always makes my eye roll.
Glad you
Liked it.
Title track is pretty good. _________________ -Ryan
