BEA 2020/2021 Songs Tournament

The long overdue tournament is here! We're a bit late to the 2020 (and even 2021) party, but we had that much more time to revisit our favourite songs. The spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1AdbYfzQYi5gBvSVaBX21DCK_8FTs66DEwGp615vVNAU/edit?usp=sharing First, some boring rulebook stuff. - we'll keep it short and sweet with 64 songs - time limit is 20 minutes, there's no point in nominating anything longer imo - no restrictions like "1 per artist", what y'all nominate is what you get - every user can nominate 3 songs, but they mustn't all be from the same year. So 2 2020 songs and 1 from 2021 or the other way around. - the overall number of 2020 and 2021 songs must be equal, so I'll keep track of that in this thread. At some point, all 32 slots for a year will be taken. For example, 2020 has 1 empty slot and 2022 has 5. User X nominates 1 2020 song and 2 2021 songs. The count is now 2020 - 0 remaining and 2021 - 3 remaining. The next user can only pick 2 songs from 2021. The user after that can obviously only pick the 1 remaining 2021 song. - deadline is the 2nd of April. If we don't have 64 nominees at 23:59 GMT on the 2nd of April, you're allowed to choose 1 additional song until both years have 32 nominees. Let the fastest BEA forum regular win! - singles released in 2020 which appear on 2021 releases are eligible for both years - tournament will be classic bracket style with a fully randomized 1st round matchups. If your 2 songs end up facing each other in the first round, that's too bad :) - in the case of a tie, we'll extend the deadline (probably 2 days, but this is subject to change). If that fails, the tiebreaker is the number of votes for respective songs in the tournament up to that point. The next tiebreaker is fewer nominees left in the tournament, as in the song by user with less songs left in the tourney at that point will progress. When all else fails, we'll flip a coin, I guess. The finals and 3rd place match are up. It's possible I'll leave them open for 7 days since I'm travelling, more info on that in the coming days. I don't think it makes a lot of difference either way. Great tourney, perhaps a predictable final round (except for Chaise Longue), but I don't mind it, every song has its merits. Let the best indie song win.

Edit: it'll be 7+ days, I'm back home Sunday evening. Y'all got almost 4 more days to vote.

Dope tournament. Love seeing Lenker win, her whole album was truly incredible.

Yeah the results were mostly what I expected although shocked Wet Leg actually had so many fans. I fully expected Ka to be a lock for the final three going into this tournament knowing most here (including myself) are big fans. Like I Used To is a great track so not upset it beat out Ka and achieved second.

As always I have fun during these tournaments. Cant wait for whatever the next one will be.
