on release I thought it was dull and lifeless... until years later where I cried listening to it while reading a lyric sheet

Haven't listened to this in years. It's great, just puts me in a really sad headspace. Sylvia destroys me - partly because Sylvia Plath is one of my favourite poets, but also the lyrics and the dynamic shift in the chorus hit me like a tonne of bricks.

14 years on, not to mention countless listens, and it still packs an absolute punch. Some of the most stunning, atmospheric songwriting and production met with obliterating storytelling indie rock has to offer.

Track picks
2. Kettering
3. Sylvia
7. Two
9. Wake
10. Epilogue
