It’s weird to think that, at the time, comedians made fun out of Bjork and a lot of people were laughing along. Spitting Image had a 99 uses for a Bjork sketch or something like that; French & Saunders did a parody with a song that I think was called “Eskimo Girl”. I remember conversations with friends: people just thought she was trying to be weird. At least that was the mainstream reaction at the time.
Strange, because it’s an accessible and melodic record. Bjork was just so different to what was going on and was a real force of nature. I think by her second album, she had generated more acceptance from mainstream media but it took a while . Great album and one of the most iconic album covers of all time as well.

I had no idea who she was until I heard this. I love all of her work, but I always come back to this one. _________________ I'm leaning on the threshold

Human Behavior is still one of her defining songs. What an unbelievable melody and atmosphere. _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.

when i first picked up one of her albums in high school, i kept it under wraps. i remember a couple friends (band geeks no less) laughing about what a horrid singer and total hack she was… i haven’t spoken to those two guys in over a decade, but i wonder sometimes if they ever came around. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.

Weird. I must've missed this part of culture.
My high school friends/family, etc. were all very into Bjork. But that was around the time of this album/the unplugged performance etc.
