I come back to this one with a regularity that I wouldn't have predicted. It's the Bon Iver album most at ease with itself. It's amber, autumnal warmth a welcome comfort in a discography otherwise comprised of heartbreak, spiritual turmoil, and a sense of listlessness that encompasses time and space. i, i is full of love and optimism that we'd see in flashes on previous records, but that didn't crystalize as a fully realized ethos until this record. Vernon and co. wear it well.
