Greatest Hits by Dr. Hook

Been playing a few albums which arnโ€™t generally my usual fair. This is another one.

Obtained from my moms collection. Pretty middle of the road stuff. Nothing to get excited about but ok

You should throw that in the trash and pick up this one:

Revisited by Dr. Hook And The Medicine Show

It contains absolutely zero songs from after they dropped the Medicine Show name, meaning that none of the soupy later trash hits like "Only Sixteen" or "When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman" or "Sharing The Night Together" are on it. Revisited is all Shel Silverstein songs, and it's so much better. They were more of a hippie rock band than a hit seeking ballad group. The difference is kinda like REO Speedwagon rocking with Gary Richrath as opposed to the anti-rock band that they are now without him.

Thanks for the heads up romanelli. The greatest hits, as with most of my moms albums I suspect, is going to a charity shop somewhere.

Iโ€™ll check out revisited. From your description itโ€™s going to be more my kind of stuff. Thanks for taking the time to recommend

Itโ€™s not one of his most immediate releases. Took a few listens. I think that it also helped that Iโ€™ve heard them played live at the album launch gig and heโ€™s a great live performer which probably brings the songs to life more easily for me. The title track for instance. Performed brilliantly live.

If it doesnโ€™t grab you fair enough but another listen or two might help. Hope it clicks

In Rainbows by Radiohead
Watched a wee bit of their In The Basement performance on YouTube earlier, fantastic performance. Put me in the mood to dig this one out.
