Getting harder and harder to place these tracks, in a good way.
This is another pop belter, I know she's had a few hits, both as a solo artist, aswell as her time with the Go-Go's, this is surely the most iconic however.
Her first entry in the series, but it's just one of those iconic 80's pop hits that gets in your head and stays there.
Irrespective of how people feel about Belinda Carlisle, this is really catchy.

Another huge pop belter for Billy Ocean, hard not to find this enjoyable.
The first single off his seventh album, this was another huge hit for Billy, his third US number one I believe.
Just an excellent pop hit that leaves feel good vibes again and again.
Cracking the top 50, and of the 2 Billy Ocean tracks to feature so farm, this one shades it.

Another R&B hit from the late Jermaine Stewart, not as strong as his previous entry here, but not surprising all the same.
It's catchy and another flavour of what was to come in the 90's, but it's not fully there yet.
A top 10 hit in Ireland and the UK, it's solid enough for now.

Eddy Grant is probably best known for his earlier hit, Electric Avenue, which predates the NOW series in the early 80's.
This was an unusually massive hit for him, an anti-apartheid song that was banned in South Africa, it became a huge hit around Europe in the late 80's and remained one of the biggest hits of Grant's career.
Grant was born in Guyana before moving to the UK where his music career took off.
This is really good, familiar with it in passing, but I really enjoy it and obviously there's an important message in there, but there's also a great beat.
Guyana being in South America, but often associated with the Caribbean, has definitely had some influence on this track and its reggae stylings also.
Really like it, but hard to place it.

Another Eddie and another song coming decades later.
This originally came out in 58, and Cochran died in 1960 in a car accident at the age of 21, crazy.
It had been a success at the time and he was playing in the UK when he died.
Then again in 88 it reentered the charts, not massively, but it cracked the top 10 in Ireland anyway.
This song was actually used in so many things in Ireland for decades, can still here it in my head into the 00's.
It's brisk and catchy, coming at under 2 minutes, but it's well out of its own era also, a worthy top 100 candidate though.

Interestingly, I've struggled to get into a lot of Morrissey's solo stuff to same level of the Smiths, which I love.
This is his first solo single, coming on the back of the Smith's breakup and off his album Viva Hate.
Whilst not at the level of the Smiths, it's still close enough to some of their later works, and is possibly my favourite of Morrissey's post-breakup tracks.
A reasonably decent level of success for his first single, I do like it.

Cheers, you're right actually, the source I've been using actually left out the live part, and after a bit of digging it's the first live track to make the cut so far, so it never even crossed my mind that the live version was the one they used in the end, I'll update that, thanks for the heads up!
The follow up single to Sweet Little Mystery by Scottish pop band Wet Wet Wet, their third single of their debut album and second entry in this series.
A decent effort, but lacking the same oomph as their previous effort, I find myself enjoying it to an extent and it's definitely one I've come across a bit, probably won't come back to it all that much at the same time but definitely top 150 material.
