Two albums of 2015 I listened to:

First an album I already know/own:

Teens Of Style by Car Seat Headrest
This is the first of three to me classic albums by this wonderful artist which to me are all nearly equally fantastic. The voice of Will Toledo is at first sight very dull but oh so expressive and the songs are excellent especially Sunburned Shirts, The Drum, Maud Gone and Oh Starving. The album moves up from the 5th to the 4th rank of the year.

And an album from my wishlist:

Distractions by Sauna Youth
Fairly plain sung punk music but ok enough to include in my year chart at the 54th rank of the year.

Two albums of 2016 I listened to:

First an album I already own/know:

Revolution Radio by Green Day
An attempt from Green Day to relive the old days and they more than partly succeed in this. Not that all tracks are really good but as a whole one of their better ones an good enough to remain in my year chart and going from the 21st to the 44th rank.

And an album from my wishlist:

Wyatt At The Coyote Palace by Kristin Hersh
3 things about this album:
1) Kristin Hersh is an artist I've been following already a long time and I very much respect
2) this is a very long album which makes it already a difficult listening session
3) a lot of songs have some interesting twist but none of the 24 tracks (yes none) are interesting enough to keep my interest
So to me regret not an album for my year chart.

Two albums of 2017 I've listened to:

First an album I already own/know:

The Jet Sessions (Live Or Lavish) by Bellemont
I already tried to promote this band of which the singer is the American ex of a family member. But the album is really good and bluesy with interesting guitar work on top of the soulful voice of the singer. And all the tracks come in two versions. The album goes from the 28th to the 58th rank.

And an album from my wishlist:

Time Well by Cloakroom
This is the second album by this band which takes the music on this album from different sources: sludge metal, stoner rock, emo and a whole portion of Low (the band). The latter causes especially the second half of the album sound like loud muzak. In my opinion, the fact that the band opted for a cleaner and more musical sound on later albums was a good thing so this particular one is a bit of a mixed bag but nevertheless good for the 93rd rank of the year.

Two albums of 2018 I listened to:

First an album I already own/know:

Vessel by Frankie Cosmos
Every track flows by very nicely and I fairly like the voice of the singer but on this album it doesn't break any pots like we say in Flemish. OK but not much more than that and the album moves from just outside my top 100 to just in my top 100 of the year at the 99th rank.

And an album from my wishlist:

Bay Dream by Culture Abuse
A bit between Weezer and slacker rock; nothing special but ok and it enters my year chart at the 93rd rank.

Two albums of 2019 I listened to:

First an album I already own/know:

Fool by Joe Jackson
Maybe his first albums are better because more angry but his latter ones are nearly equally as good: maybe less angry but certainly more diverse and mature. Also this album is great and the best examples of that are Fabulously Absolute which has a formidable drive and Dave, one of his better slow songs. Overall very enjoyable and the album remains a the 9th rank of the year.

And an album from my wishlist:

Dark Thoughts by The Shivas
A fairly good album with a punky sound but maybe a bit too fragmented to be really good and lands just in my top 100 at the 97th rank.

Just going back to 2016 because next Friday I'm going to a city festival with Smashing Pumpkins as the main act but DIIV as one of the first bands to perform, a band that nobody in Belgium knows but that's become one of my favorite contemporary bands. It was a long time ago I listened to their to me best album:

Is The Is Are by DIIV
And it's still as good as I remember it so I hope their concert will be at least as good as their albums and this one remains at the 5th rank of the year 2016
