Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 6% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.7/100, a mean average of 75.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.2.

I'm not the biggest fan of lo fi or emo or indie, but this album is perfect. Every song has great lines and atmosphere. The beats/basslines/riffs are among the best of its genre. Ppl are sleeping on this for some reason. Every song is great. Times To Die, No Passion, Strangers, Oh Starving, Something Soon, Maud Gone, Sunburned Shirts, Los Barrachos, The Drum.... It's grown on me with each listen and I've found EACH of these songs in my head on numerous occasions. It's got to be one of the most underrated albums on this site.
Comparing it to Teens of Denial is not fair. It may not have Sonic Youth/Velvet Underground influence and sounds, but at least it doesn't have comparable superiors, at least not as far as I'm familiar with. I guess you could say there are Beach Boys callbacks on this one, but those feel sarcastic. Whereas the Beach Boys are uplifting and happy, using those harmonic backing vocals here for these moody, depressing songs is ironic, appropriately inappropriate. It gives a "we don't give a fuck" vibe. It's punk. It's perfect. I'll never stop listening to this.
Not as phenomenal as the 2 albums that would follow it, but a worthy listen if you are looking for more after hearing those. Several memorable songs. I find "psst, teenagers, take off your clothes" to be pretty hilarious. Clearly Will's song writing improved, but these older tracks are still some quality material.

This album is held together by a similar sound but it's filled with few peaks and many valleys. The are only a couple of songs that are anything special for me, Something Soon and Maud Gone. The music has a more professional sound than the band's previous work but it is apparent that they had run their course on low-fi material. (Edited)
Great album. Certainly not one of my favorite CSH albums but it's got some fantastic tracks on it and shows a lot of emotion. The production improved greatly from the first Twin Fantasy, but the lyrics on this album isn't nearly as great as that album.
It's an album made up of rehashes of old material and while it's cool to hear some of the old stuff reimagined in a proper studio setting, that format doesn't lend itself towards the creation of a cohesive album and some of the old material should have stayed in the past. Twin Fantasy is a much more successful attempt at this same concept. (Edited)
Might not be quite as good as Teens of Denial but still really fuckin great. (Edited)
My favorite new band! This album is pure gold for indie rock fans, with very strong melodies.
I'm not gonna lie: I don't think I've heard an album this year that inspired less of a reaction. It's good, I guess. I don't hate it, and I'm not even terribly bored by it. But... meh. (Edited)
