What's up with these cool throwback songs in the tournament? Rather Not Stay is noisy twee by the books, but still unique and catchy enough to sound cool in 2025. And I've become a pretty big fan of the scene over the years so that helps. Ha! BEA is definitely showing it's twee colors. And I don't blame us at all. Twee is cute & cuddly and oh-so-lovable. But, this track doesn't really stand out from its twee sisthren. I've honestly heard this riff a thousand times, easy.
Easy vote for Turnstile and their unique, melodic & catchy take on Post-Hardcore and Alt-Rock.
So the thing that sticks out for me with The Cords is that there's a fullness in the vocals that I just don't see in a lot of stuff from the genre. And I don't mind that the others are like that!! But I think there's good reason to reach for this one even while the classics are available, a punch that's a product of more than the modern production. This album was huge on the domestic scene for me, lot of good times at home with this one. I heard this song more than most of the music in 2025, and I am nowhere near sick of it.
