As I find myself falling down the path of more abrasive noise structures in my music, I wonder who actually likes listening to noise, lowercase, harsh wall etc.
My last release VACANT is comprised mostly of minimal noise constructions with no real melody or structure. Is this a waste of valuable memory or a foundation for future music endeavours?
Which noise artists do you enjoy or tolerate? I don't want this to be more about discounting the genre of noise but more of a discussion of its purpose and value in modern music.
I'd say Bongritsu is your go-to guy. The last album he recommended me is a noise record (Aaron Dilloway, Modern Jester).
I think I see where noise music is coming from, but I'm too much of an ignorant on the matter and I've barely scratched the surface of things (two or three Merzbow records or something, Maurizio Bianchi, Lasse Marhaug, nothing more I think - I do, however, have a 5-page wishlisht of noise records on RYM). I'll come back later though, and am very interested in reading about this - if I find the time, I'll copy something I found in a book about the genre.
I'd say most of these fit in with Garage Punk territory but they definitely have noise elements. _________________ "Drink beer, smoke pot, and create something that will storm heaven. That's all I ever really cared about." - Ron House
Not 100% if I even like it though... _________________ "Drink beer, smoke pot, and create something that will storm heaven. That's all I ever really cared about." - Ron House
I think the thing i like about noise music the most is that I doesn't feel like a recording to me, it feels like the speakers are preforming them on there own. there has been a couple of albums that i swore something was going to pop out of my speakers. I think that these feeling tie into how you don't listen to noise music its more of a whole experience.
I honestly think almost impossible to just listen to a lot of noise music, its far too invasive. Gets under your skin, gets in your brain, you know...
Im finding it really hard to audibilize my love for noise music. But i guess thats what noise music would want. Kinda hard to talk about infinite possibilities :/
Anyways The New Blockaders are my favorite noise group, they are just always on point
(PS: IMO Organum is a really good bridge between harsher noise artists like New Blockaders and Aaron dilloway to the noise influenced ambient artists like tim heckler and ben frost)
and The Gerogerigegege:
