- Post subject: What is Radioheads BEST Song?
|
Hello music fans,
I am a new user to this site and I plan to use this site to broaden my musical tastes. I have followed critics advice in the past and have found some undiscovered treasures. Using this site, which is basically music fans stating their favorites, I feel I can really find something interesting.
Now looking at the overall chart, it seems that Radiohead's "OK Computer" is hands down a favorite here. I personally only know of them through "Creep" and "There There". I never really got into Radiohead. Well I wanted to see what all the commotion is a about so I listened to "OK Computer" and I am not sure what to think of it. I am a music fan of Melody, Vocals, Guitar and songwriting. Radiohead has all of that, but not as good as say Coldplay. Maybe it is just not for me and that is fine, but what I would like to know is which of Radiohead's songs is the best so that maybe I can focus on those and move on to there other tracks after that. Thanks for the input in advanced.

Radiohead's best song is...all of The Bends.
Seriously, I have a hard time picking one favorite. I think most people would cite "Just", but I personally tend toward "My Iron Lung" and "Fake Plastic Trees", but really that whole second album was a masterpiece (should be on my top 20 but I'm sure I forgot). As for OK Computer, Paranoid Android's really the best song there, but there's a lot of good ones on it.
A lot of Radiohead fans I'm finding completely dismiss Pablo Honey now, but I also still like it (much more than Kid A, which was the last of their CDs I bought). "Anyone Can Play Guitar", "Vegetable", and "Creep" are great songs. _________________ <(: @ >

the bends is their best album, I personally love fake plastic trees. I think it's incredibly well-written, and I really enjoy listening to it.

Pretty much agreed.
Here's my top 10 tracks:
1. The National Anthem (Kid A)
2. Paranoid Android (OK Computer)
3. Weird Fishes/Arpeggi (In Rainbows)
4. Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors (Amnesiac)
5. Subterranean Homesick Alien (OK Computer)
6. How to Disappear Completely (Kid A)
7. Go to Sleep (Hail to the Theif)
8. Morning Bell/Amnesiac (Amnesiac)
9. Let Down (OK Computer)
10. Idioteque (Kid A)
Albums:
1. Kid A
2. OK Computer
3. Amnesiac
4. In Rainbows
5. Hail to the Theif
Not a huge fan of The Bends, though it's enjoyable.

Picking the best Radiohead song is like selecting the best song by The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, or Chuck Berry, it's very hard to narrow it down with such a vast body of work to one or a few tracks. With a band like Radiohead, there is a temptation to answer by picking a track from each period in their sound. For me the list of greatest Radiohead songs (and indeed my favorites to listen to) include such vital titles as "Fake Plastic Trees", "High and Dry", "Exit Music for A Film", "How Can You Be Sure?", "Where I End and You Begin", "Nude", "I Might Be Wrong," "The Reckoner" and "How To Disappear Completely." The closest I can get to naming a favorite or best is the heart piercingly gorgeous "Let Down" off of OK Computer. Coldplay, which you call better (and don't ge me wrong I like them quite a bit), took a great deal of cues from that song.

Fake Plastic Trees hands down. Pure genius and the music and lyrics are beautiful
Also i disagree that Kid A is "far much better then anything Radiohead has done before or after" If you like experimental music only then yes but if you enjoy a greater variety of music you would know that The Bends and OK Computer are, although overated, excellent albums. _________________ "The future is unwritten."
