Or at least not very well known... solo artists too I guess.
There are a few I could mention but will keep it to a couple to start this off.
Kosheen - first two albums were top 10 in UK but no-one seems to know who they are now (seem to have a good fanbase in Eastern Europe though). 'Resist' was their debut... took me a while to get into but there was a big pay-off once I did. Check out 'Empty Skies' (wasn't released as a single but still has half a million plays on youtube). Band are still together and apparently about to release album number six.
Inspiral Carpets - always considered these guys a good singles band but recently decided to start checking out their albums. They didn't have the swagger of other 'Madchester' era bands but their stuff has held up really well imo.
