With my newfound love of fast-paced workout music, I really should give this another chance. I tried "I'm So Bored With the USA", though, and it wasn't as fun as I thought it would be :/

This is pure punk perfection. Anarchic while still having a sense of fun and having a hard-hitting, politically charged cover of Police & Thieves.

I actually prefer the US version because of White Man in Hammersmith Palais. Anyway, this is as riot as white music ever got. The riffs, the lyrics, the fuck-off attitude. My favourites include Janie Jones, Career Opportunities and London's Burning.

Not heard Crass then? (to name one of a few). Punk. Is. Dead.

Back on topic, I've always found the U.K. version hangs together so much better. Janie Jones belongs at the start, not lost in the middle. Cheat and Protex Blue (perhaps the best song ever written about condoms) are glaring omissions from the Stateside press. And yeah, I love Hammersmith Palais too, but I've always found it a bit out-of-step with the rest of the record. Regardless, it's an ace LP, it's been in my Top 100 since day dot and that's likely where it will stay.

I prefer the U.S. version because of Clash City Rockers and Complete Control. It's a good album, but I find that I'm not as into this album as I was before.

I agree on that. It's a significant loss that those two tracks aren't included. But still it is a very great album!

I have. Not that same level of impact, though.

Yep. Much as I appreciate Crass for their uncompromising attitude, Clash inspired thousands of bands and continue to do so. Like in Poland, along with Joy Division and Bob Marley, they were the major influence on the arising punk/new wave underground movement at the turn of 1970s/1980s. And I'd guess it went pretty much the same way in other countries.

Crass's impact was much more limited ex definitione, due to their radical stance. So yes, while they (and a few others) might have been more of a riot, their message was not as loud or widespread.
