After a couple of false starts and iffy leaks the Record Store Day website seems to have got its act together and finally decided to list all the RSD16 releases.

Full list here

Thankfully the list Hayden put in another thread yesterday has been massively expanded, and there are a couple of genuinely interesting things on it (for me at least):

Thunder, Lightning, Strike by The Go! Team

Offend Maggie by Deerhoof

There are, however a couple of records which make bugger all sense. Jay Reatard's Blood Visions, for example, should be relatively easy to get, but here it is in a '10th anniversary' pressing. He would have laughed. And how many RSD pressings of Never Mind The Bollocks do you need? Must be like 3rd year on the spin - talk about filthy lucre.

That aside, anyone got any opinions on the list? Is it worth queuing up 2 days for? Is there anything there that grabs you? Or is RSD going down the toilet, especially with a Hello Kitty and Justin Bieber record among the list?

really hard to decide which one on that list is the least essential. The soundtrack to John Wick maybe? Or maybe the one for the tv show The Blacklist.

Ah, perfect. I was hoping that wasn't the full list.

The reissues/releases from John Coltrane, Miles Davis, J Dilla, Fela Kuti, Sex Pistols and Xiu Xiu could all be decent. Tonnes of toss-ups in the second half of the list as well.

But I agree with Mecca, the most intersting release for me is certainly The Go! Team.

Also, Ethan Hawke's rendition of My Funny Valentine wasn't too bad. I won't pick it up, but it's an odd choice to press.

The James Brown double LP can't be bad, the Etta James is very good. Pinback's Blue Screen Life is a good LP. I don't know if Sun Ra's "Spaceways" is actually We Travel the Spaceways, but if so, it's a grabber. Finally, I suppose an Allen Toussaint live LP from '75 could be quite good.

I don't have a copy of At Last, and I'd certainly like to get one, but isn't there already a decent press in distribution? Neutral I wonder if this release will have anything to enhance it.

Oh sorry, I know zilch about which of these already has a decent press. I was just listing the ones I'd be interested in if I had the dough.

In all fairness, I'd also want it if I had the dough. No worries. Laughing I'm just wondering what RSD is going to do with the pressing. I think the last time I saw a new copy it was around $35(Can) anyway.
