I actually quite liked both of these, so this was a hard one for me. I vacillated for a while, and I easily could have gone either way, but I eventually settled on BCD because the Frankie Knuckles album had more not-so-great moments (primarily in the too-long Baby Wants to Ride).

Well, it looks like Frankie Knuckles is going to win, so I'll be listening to it at least one more time. Maybe that song will grow on me. I liked it for a few minutes, but it just kept going, and, in my opinion, getting worse.

I'd actually vote frankie if the whole cd was just one long version of baby wants to ride
Not a massive fan of Basic Channel but will have a listen again first. Too many great tracks on the other.[/i]

Isn't the Knuckles LP also a V/A LP of Frankie remixes? Just sayin' because of "Move Your Body". Anyway, voting BCD, a nice discovery, the Frankie has the most awesome tracks but is a bit uneven.

Suppose technically it is V/A. Tried again with basic channel and I don't think I'm ever going to really get it, just can't be arsed. Frankie has a handful of out and out classics so easy pick. First track is probably my favourite vocal house track.

Too many top tunes not to vote for Frankie Knuckles on this one (Your Love is an all-time favourite).

@anyone who implies Baby Wants to Ride is anything short of perfection
@people who accuse this of being too much of a V/A comp
I think that's very debatable. Over half the record is credited to Frankie of an alias of his directly, and, given his role of producer, everything else is every bit his track as it is whoever's name is on it. It's not a collection of remixes, these are Produced By Frankie Knuckles Tracks™ from the very beginning, through and through. I could still definitely see the argument against the inclusion (yes technically almost half of these songs are not "by" Frankie Knuckles in the literal sense) but uhhhhhhh I think it works and I'm right all the time that is a scientific fact.
aNyWAy this is a painful round. BCD would win in almost any other matchup for me. An all-time masterpiece for not just dub techno but techno of any kind. Deeply subdued in its atmosphere but really digs into your brain and is almost kind of moving in some way I can't fully articulate. It's an unexpectedly beautiful collection of music.
I can't vote against Frankie though. There's nothing to say that hasn't been repeated ad infinitum already. This is the height of dance music. Nothing with Frankie's name on is has ever not banged. I'm sure I could pretentiously hyper-analyze all this if I wanted to but honestly when I put Frankie's music I lose all desire to think in that mode; I just want to move. It's str8 cliche dance-movie shit. Frankie Knuckles is a literal magician. One of only a handful of musical figures in history who leaves this chronically rambling insufferable nitwit almost completely silent for once. Like I said, magic

Definitely Frankie Knuckles for me, one of the true benchmarks in house music, with 'Your Love' standing tall as one of the greatest recordings in any genre of late 20th century music. Basic Channel created one of my favourite genres, but I'm not as fond of this album as I am of their original 12" classics. It almost feels like it's folding in on itself, so subtle are the mixes on here. Worth a listen though!
