Here's your major movers and shakers in the Top 100 since July 27th.
Moving Up
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (#67 - #63) +4
Joy Division - Closer (#54 - #51) +3
White Stripes - Elephant (#59 - #56) +3
Black Sabbath - Paranoid (#96 - #93) +3
Moving Down
Radiohead - Amnesiac (#93 - #100) -7
Oasis - Definitely Maybe (#41 - #44) -3
Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head (#50 - #53) -3
Rage Against the Machine - Rage Against the Machine (#66 - #69) -3
Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights (#81 - #84) -3
The Top 40 is pretty much set in stone, with movement only up a spot or down a spot, and even then it was rare.
Outside of the Top 100, things are a bit more volatile. Even though it's only been four days, a number of albums (Rain Dogs, Parklife, Trout Mask Replica, Violator, White Light/White Heat, Loaded, and Horses) have gotten a healthy burst of +5 or more since Wednesday.
Those taking major hits include Aenima, Vampire Weekend's s/t, Bob Marley's Legend, Paul's Boutique, Up the Bracket, and Axis: Bold as Love. No album has been hit as hard as Let It Be however, which has dove -10 spots in the last half-week.

hmmm.... i have 5 of the 11 albums you mentioned moving in my top 100, and none of the ones moving down. i guess that makes sense. is stuff like this really that unusual? i often see albums in the top 500 moving up or down 5 or so places every few weeks. i guess the let it be thing is a little odd, but other than that i don't see the new charts having that big an effect just yet. maybe i'm wrong. how do you tell how much an album changed in it's overall chart position?

That's really interesting actually. It makes sense that some albums would be impacted more greatly than others. The Top 40, as you said, move very little because those will be in lots of Top 50's, unaffected by the change. However, those fringe albums will move up or down with far greater variance. Albums that were not making Top 50 charts that now appear on Top 100's will obvious rise in the rankings, while albums what were ranked in or near the top 100 (and out of the top 50) overall (you mentioned Aenima--118 last I checked) -- well, those albums will drop in the rankings considerably if they fail to make many Top 100's, making the impact more noticeable.
Great point and I hope this becomes an interesting thread. _________________ My voodoo master, my machine, baby, will not stand in line...

I'm noticing, with these larger charts, that a lot more 'new' albums and artists are being added to the site, and people are not helping look after the new additions, and this is creating a lot more work behind the scenes.
I've already accumulated over 12,000 edits since the moderation system was launched just two months ago, and the next nearest is in the 800s (thanks to harkan), and then btener11 with 555 (thanks), and after that there is only one other person with over 100 edits (thanks RF).
The site will get into a mess very quickly if we don't keep on top of the new data. It might mean capping users from adding over x new albums into their charts, or only allowing users with x mod points to add new albums, or perhaps even having a tiered membership.
I'm still thinking what to do, and I'm sure a solution will be found, but in the first place, this was the original reason for delaying the launch of these larger charts.

Well is there a way you could "encourage" people who add new albums to edit/moderate them?
I mean are people (especially new members) aware that they can do it, or do they think they just have to wait?
