that susanne sundfor record is a real grower. i liked it when it first came out, but i initially thought it fell short of her previous three albums. it doesn't have that energy. that adrenaline rush that she does so well. oh man, though, this is though probably my favorite though record from her though now though. bedtime story gets a lot of repeat listens, but the whole album is. is. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.

This one isn't even fair. I don't even want to vote. Fuck.
it's a shame for the kelly lee owens too cause it's a fine record. it just has nothing on what susanne sundfor put out. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.
Is it just me or am I missing something here? Because I’ve listened to that Susanne Sundfor LP a couple of times now and whilst it’s all rather pretty it’s hardly anything remarkable to these ears. And true, it could well be a grower as Craola points out (certainly compared to Ten Love Songs, which was an instant love), but given that I’ve barely heard any of these records in the tournament I haven’t got the time to relisten copious times to find out. Must say though - “No One Believes In Love Anymore” is fucking beautiful (I’m a sucker for a flute).
Kelly Lee Owens’ S/T just seems more interesting, innovative and (crucially for these purposes) immediate - like a Trish from Broadcast/Grimes hybrid from the Rhondda valleys who instead of dating Elon Musk has bunked up with Rhodrhi from the Volvo dealership in Merthyr Tydfil. I bloody love it - Diolch Hu(gh)w. _________________ 'Reggae' & t'ing Folk 'n Stuff SHAMELESS RECORD DEALER PLUG

i didn't mean that it isn't immediate, only that it grows. i think after my first listen, i marked it as a 90, and i've upped it to 100 since then. it's obvious on first listen that she knows what she's doing. but the songwriting is really impressive the more i listen, and the experimental sides of it weren't too apparent on my first couple listens.
anyway, yeah, it was my AOTY, but i definitely enjoyed kelly lee owens' album. i don't begrudge anyone voting for it. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.
