I demoed records in the Trip Hop genre. And I feel like the second wave of this genre was way more captivating compared to the inception. Prefer records in the second half of the 90's compared to the first half.

What are the artists/albums have you "demoed"? I believe you like Bjork and I would assume the others you may have listened to would be Portishead, Massive Attack, and Tricky.

That is correct. But records like Big Calm and Homogenic as well as records that were influenced in trip-hop like Music Has the Right to Children, Moon Safari and Entroducing I just find more impressive.

I knew nothing about it until I read this article and the fact that people say it from time to time.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trip_hop

I honestly thought maybe it referred to something like Chance the Rapper.

But since I read the article, I like this album:

Born To Die by Lana Del Rey

There's a compilation series from the 90s called Dope On Plastic that you should listen to.

Lana Del Rey has definitely made some nods to trip hop in her time, but it'd be a stretch to call Born To Die a trip hop album.

It's a limited genre, which is why it seems like it often has trouble being defined. Once you're done with Massive Attack, Portishead, Tricky and Goldfrapp (probably in that order) then you're either reaching out to things that sound a bit like them or you're going down a rabbit hole that gets more and more niche by the minute.

Personally I feel like it really needs a british geeza rapping somewhere there in the mix. If it aint bristol-born'an'bred then it aint trip hop, but maybe that's just me.
