Hello BEA.

Twice before (Stevie Wonder, Tool) I've done polls and have enjoyed the input on bands and albums I've always loved.

Now I'm curious to see your takes on the band I consider to be my all time favorite in many respects, Rush.

They have a large catalog spanning many decades and eras so it's often tough for me to say certain Rush albums are better than others, however I do have what I consider to be a permanent top 4 in Moving Pictures, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, and Signals.

Hemispheres. although like everything they did in the 70s & early 80s including and I guess ending with Grace Under Pressure. Never got into them beyond that point like a lot of people.

I think Fly by Night is my favorite simply because it's the only one that I know all the words to. Heh heh

Hemispheres for a while was my undeniable number 1, but Permanent Waves caught up, and I'm always one to acknowledge the near and sheer perfection Moving Pictures is. It's tough.

Mid-late 80's is not an era of Rush I listen to on return visits as it got a bit stale, but after a while I revisited Grace Under Pressure for a full listen and it was pleasantly consistent and features some really great lyrics from Neil Peart.

There are highlights for me though from Power Windows-Counterparts (Counterparts being one of the most underrated albums in my opinion).. such as Marathon, Time Stand Still, The Pass, Territories, Dreamline, Where's My Thing, and one of my top 10-15 Rush songs, Animate.

That's fitting being that it's Neil Peart's first album with the band. A good record indeed.

Moving Pictures. I really enjoy everything from Fly By Night to Power Windows, but Moving Pictures is the best LP they made in my opinion.

B.T.R by Big Time Rush

Also, their best song is "Forget Me Nots (Feat. Patrice)"

Just to be facetious I chose "A Farewell to Kings". I think it's one of their more consistent albums though.

Some of their early masterpieces are on it as well like Cygnus and Xanadu. Not crazy about Madrigal or Cinderella Man, but the rest of the album is strong enough to put it in the conversation.
