Overview
I suppose you could call SLP (Spotify Listening Project) as a sort-of companion to the Album Listening Project which is in full swing at the moment. Anyway, youโre probably confused to what the hell SLP is in the first place, so hereโs a bit of an overview:
The intent here is to get more activity on the forums going and promote discussion of things not within a simple album format. Itโs sort of inspired by a few community threads weโve had in the past but also something we did on my first music forum around a decade agoโ getting the community to come together and listen to a playlist mix with no branching theme to give a sort of new audience some awareness of songs others love and have fun discussing them in varying levels of detail. So in short what we have here is a playlist discussion that is exactly like the ALC but not with a sole album.
Users will have a duration to listen to the playlist of about a weekโ these playlists being about 30-45 minutes in total length. As a good balance letโs keep it at under fifteen songs at a cap.
Much like the ALC, you donโt have to limit your discussion/listening experience to that week. Discussion threads can be posted in at any time and revisited by some fresh ears when wanted. This isnโt rigid. This is supposed to be fun.
Of course, we will be using Spotify. So thatโs pretty much the only 'hard' rule.

just to clarify, is this an anything goes type deal or are these meant to be 2016 playlists to compliment the ALC?
It would be more of an โanything goesโ deal as long as we arenโt playing elaborate jokes with harsh noise playlists or ten tracks of lossless silence. This is not to say these playlists cannot have their own theme, but to be courteous to your fellow forum goers if that makes any sense?
But yeah, mostly everything on spotify is acceptable.

Sounds good! Put me in for April 3rd โ April 9th please ๐
I'd like to do it, if I can give y'all a link to one of my shared Dropbox folders. Otherwise, I'll hold off until I can find ten songs that I want to put together to show off that are also on Spotify.
