Most people here are gonna say gabriel, but honestly, I really like collins body of work both with and without genesis and ultimately think it's preferable about gabriel's body of work.

Peter Gabriel and it's not close. Their output from 71-74 is stronger than Crimson and as good if not a bit better than Yes. So much charisma on those Gabriel records and he simply has the better voice.
With that said I've always been quick to say there are great songs in the Collins led era and I respect the hell out of him, but those Gabriel albums are sacred to me.

Definitely more creative music and better songwriting with Gabriel at the helm.
But the whole Gabrek’S got a far better voice? Nope. And Collins could do it without the silly theatrics.
Best musician in the group was Steve Hackett. Would much rather listen to the likes of Voyage of th Acolyte than any Gabriel or Collins solo work.

Gabriel by a long shot, but Phil Collins is unfairly maligned. He was a great drummer and a great pop songwriter.
Listen to this album to hear what Phil Collins was really capable of.

Great album. And yes I agree that Collins gets a lot of hate for no reason.

Gabriel perhaps overall but Phil's pop ballads are excellent.
