Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 1% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 83.1/100, a mean average of 81.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 83.8/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 16.1.

The one of the VOICE
"So" is most infuentual album for Russian musical producers. They say that Peter Gabriel is a guru of sound. When I listen to Red Rain its sometimes makes me cry, this song is absolutely genius, well I'm not big fan of Genesis or Peter Gabriel, but I'm finally understand that Gabriel is a God of atmospheric music!
Underrated. I can't belive what I'm saying, but Gabriel is terribly underrated.
I really love everything up through Peter Gabriel IV. After that it gets hit-or-miss. The last few albums have disappointed me. Seems like he's out of juice.
Did you know that at a certain time of year Pete likes to dress as a swan and intimidate Shepherds with complex lighting effects?
Peter Gabriel is a genius. I say that without a second of hesitation. As most have already stated in this thread, he is one of the most experimental and interesting solo artists of all time. His work with Genesis, both on record and live, makes the case for his legendary status by itself, but records like So, Us, III, and IV show his genius in so many other ways. Not to mention how much of a great humanitarian he is and what he has done over the years to raise awareness for so many things.
My prog rock fan friend and I dealt with someone in high school who gave us flack for even listening to Genesis or Gabriel. My friend caught up with him recently and he apologized to us. "I take back everything I've said, So is the best album of the 1980's."
Angel!
As good as he was with genesis, leaving the group allowed his musical
Brilliance to shine where nobody has gone b-4 .
I prefer his work with Genesis. The first four albums he produced after that are the best in his solo career.
Great artist when he was the leader of genesis, greater artist as solist. Too much unterrated in BEA perhaps there are too much young people in the site...
His live performance are simply marvellous...
