Personally I thought this year’s RSD fare was dire - didn’t even bother. More and more shops local to me didn’t decide to participate and I don’t blame them. It’s become a flipper’s farce where unless there’s something you desperately want you may as well wait a few weeks and pick up the offerings for a fraction of the price when the gougers realise there’s no way they’re going to make a profit.

Give it 5 years and RSD will be dead, if it isn’t on its last legs already.
Here in Pennsylvania in the USA it is still huge in fact I had to work a convention this morning so i was only able to go to my local store at 4:30 and it was packed still. i missed on a couple things i wanted but still grabbed a ton of great stuff.

I'm not entirely sure about that. Perhaps in the UK? RSD is huge in Toronto, I've been there for it twice and they go all out.
I love seeing vinyl sales getting a daily spike, and it's great to have a community event for record buyers/shops, but it's not my cup of tea. Usually too squishy, too overpriced, too 'Black Friday'-esque. Sometimes shops will have 15-20% off store-wide, which is cool though.
Anywho, didn't participate this year. Been chilling in Bangkok the past while and they don't have it here... or too many music shops for that matter 😨
I don't bother with the special releases - there's very few I'm interested in and they're more than I'm willing to pay anyway. I just go to my favourite second hand place where they do all stock for 20% off and go nuts. This year I wasn't able to spend as much as I usually would due to budget, but I still managed to pick up Innervisions on vinyl and Rain Dogs on CD. _________________ Top 40 Greatest Music Albums by indieshins
Honestly, this year was a little bit of a let down for me in terms of the titles released on RSD. Not too many "can't miss" items in my opinion. With that being said, there were a couple things that caught my eye. I grabbed the Car Seat Headrest 2011 version off a whim (my friend had really liked Teens of Denial) and I'm glad I did because I love it and its a high quality pressing. I also picked up the Rage Against The Machine live album at the Democratic Convention which is great but I wish it were longer. _________________ Jeff Lynne 5th Beatle
