Any good Irish bands with traditional folk elements?

Well I'm a sucker for Irish culture and music, everything from St. Patrick's day and bagpipes to Danny Boy. Recently I've started liking many bands/songs with Irish folk instruments, or just themes about Ireland and their history. Examples: The Pogues, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, Waltz Of The 101st Lightborne by Joanna Newsom (she's not Irish but the song has that vibe), The Dubliners... And I was wondering, are there any less known bands or songs (Irish or not) that have similar sound or aesthetics?

Definitely give John Spillane a go; his songs are melodic, poetic and greatly influenced by trad. Hey Dreamer is probably his best album (at least that I've heard.) Will we be Brilliant or What is also great from a songwriting perspective but the production is hella cheesy.

You asked for bands, but these are some of my favorite singer/songwriter artists from Ireland of recent years.

This album was from last year, and is Irish in sound and theme...

Chronicles Of The Great Irish Famine by Declan O'Rourke

An earlier album I like...

Since Kyabram by Declan O'Rourke

This artist is Irish, but his sound crosses over into Americana

Joy Of Nothing by Foy Vance

The Wild Swan by Foy Vance

This one from 1992 is thematically based around the Book of Kells (widely regarded as Irelandโ€™s finest national treasure). Its somewhat dated in its production (1992), but I think the ambition of the work and the cohesiveness of it transcends that. It kind of sounds like Enya mixed with prog-rock.

I'm a huge Irish/Celtic fan. Here's a handful to explore:

Roger Drawdy and the Firestarters. Based in the US, but thoroughly Irish in attitude and vibe. Mostly traditional instrumentation. Not at all big, but right up your alley here. GREAT live show!

Altan. Primarily traditional sound and songs. May sound different from your faves so far, but still worth a try. One of the most solid Celtic bands in history.

Silly Wizard. Scottish rather than Irish, but a super tight, killer band with a strong Celtic vibe.

Bothy Band. Super fun, high energy traditional sounding Celtic outfit

Connie Dover. A somewhat different sound, but I still have to put in a plug. Although from Missouri, she's created some magnificent Celtic music that emotes Celtic vibe like a local. But the real seller her is her unbelievably angelic voice. Otherworldly it is in its beauty. The album below is one of my all time faves in any genre (her other albums are somewhat less Celtic).

Great recommendations, thanks guys. I actually know some of these like Van Morrison & The Chieftains, and I've heard a lot of good things about Declan O'Rourke as well.
@Fischman thanks for Celtic recommendations, I also find many of Celtic (especially punk) bands to be great live. Will listen to these.
The Book Of Kells sounds very interesting, as does Planxty (listening to it now). Will give all the listed albums a spin.
