When I saw this comment from you, I instantly thought we were on an Appetite for Destruction thread!

Laughing

It comes from one of my favorite memes, but really means nothing. There's a high chance I've said this 20 or so times on this site at random with no intent.

Kidding aside, I know of no other album I relate to as well with the feeling of loss and depression. Emotionally powerful album.

Truthfully I never heard of this album before I came on this site. And then one of the members on this site gave a strong testimonial that it was fantastic it could have been Round the Bend or fleshman or one of the many members. After listening to it about 10 times I must admit it is fantastic. It is without doubt his best work for me.

Haha love that meme! Very Happy

And I never realized that about Appetite for Destruction dealing so profoundly with loss and depression. I knew it was among your favorites and an emotionally powerful masterpiece for you, but I will have to listen to it with fresh earns now. Thanks! Wink

No - not for Appetite.

That was for Sea Change.

I find Appetite pretty lame.

Nice try but you closet AFDFs (Appetite For Destruction Fanboyz) can't fool me!

***Ok - joke finally ends***

While Id choose many other albums over Sea Change in that regard, I did revisit it yesterday and it remains a solid effort. Even if I would say it's a bit overrated, it's not hard to see what others see in it. I find something like Neil Young's Harvest or Nick Drake's Five Leaves Left, for starters, to both be way more emotional/moving/powerful alternatives with comparable (or comparable enough) aims/aesthetic.

I totally missed how those albums have heart-wrenching lyrics of loss and desperation the entire album. I'll have to read the lyrics I guess, which I didn't notice. I also felt like they weren't as slow and painful, just like the sting of depression.
