An interesting and unusual chart for sure!

Several of the albums I have never seen on a “best albums” list here or anywhere else, yet are clearly made by famous musicians, for example Thirty Three & 1/3, Speak No Evil, Ringo, and Now Look. Most of them I have only seen rejected severely or entirely ignored by most critics.

Then there is the large number of Latin American albums, which I am entirely unfamiliar with myself – my interests in the international music field being much more towards European music.

Thirdly there are a number of non-“canonical” albums by “canonical” artists. Among these are The Soft Parade (which I would certainly rate higher than the immediately preceding and following Doors albums), Filles De Kilimanjaro, Chunga's Revenge, Let Love In, Technique, Fireball, Signals, Lovesexy and Music From ‘The Elder’. One could even add the jazz albums Black Fire, The World Of Cecil Taylor and Mysterious Traveller to this category. I adore Unit Structures, have known of Point of Departure two decades ago when it was listed at #48 on Joe S. Harrington’s Top 100 Albums – although I have never got around to hearing Hill – and own several Weather Report albums without ever previously hearing of Mysterious Traveller.

I can criticise how all the 2000s and 2010s albums are “packed” in the lower ranks, at least with this not being explained or justified.
