The case of there being a thick wall between one's admiration for all the choices and ultimate craft on an album and actually enjoying listening to it is definitely one I have with the last Aldous Harding's record (and really all her stuff), feels like even what is meant to be taken below surface appreciation is often what turns me off it, but I still have no problem choosing this random track in this particular matchup.
Never cared much for Aldous Harding, but this song is nice, love her accent/voice. Roger still has a great voice too, but I’m gonna go for What if Birds Aren't Singing They're Screaming _________________ Overall chart Fake overall chart
The Aldous Harding track is pretty good. It probably wouldn't get my vote in some other matches, but it does here as the Daltrey track is pretty schmaltzy. _________________ Join us in the canon game / Add me on RYM
Aldous Harding writes the same song again and again. Luckily, it's pretty pleasant. Can't get behind the overwrought theatricality of that Daltrey song, which aims for that late-career Zevon torch song vibe but just turns out sounding rote and self-satisfied. Easy vote to Harding. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
