I also love "Harder to Breathe" by Maroon 5. Funk rock actually suits Adam Levine quite well. Sadly, this wasn't the sound that made them a household name, so they abandoned it very quickly.

I'm not the biggest fan of Able Tasmans of the Dunedin Scene but they go off on this track.

It's bad enough that you don't like Queen. Yes is a group of prog geniuses. I'm guessing ELO, another one of my most favorite acts, isn't your thing either.
