Amazing album, energetic and powerful like most of their 80's albums, but this one does have a bit of a melancholic atmosphere which I really like. It has a few monster songs (Pride, title track, Bad), but the deep cuts I really love are Promenade and Indian Summer Sky.

My favourite U2 album, and Bad is easily a 10/10 track. The title track and Pride aren't too far either.

U2 are a strange band - I didn't mind them, and then I was offered a free ticket to see them, and their show was one of the most pretentious, overblown, lacking in self-awareness spectacles I've ever witnessed. Before they played 'One', Bono put on a blindfold with the six symbols of the world's major religions scrawled on, and behind him on the screen was an animation of those same symbols being made into one, all-encompassing symbol. I have held it against them ever since, rightly or wrongly.

That said, 'Pride' is a fucking great song and I will go to bat for it regardless of what anyone says.

On this album the sound production is finally worthy of an important band, even if Bono's voice sometimes appears a bit constructed.
On this album is one of my favorite songs, widely underrated, even by U2, Elvis Presley and America. It's a magical song, with a shapeless structure, without a chorus or uniform stanzas. Yet everything seems to be in exactly the right place

The album that started their musical maturity beyond (albeit a great run) their post-punk beginnings.

Easily my one of my favorite U2 songs. It's dreamy feel I get lost in.

I've been to several U2 shows.

for the joshua tree, during the playing of "mothers of the disappeared", Bono went on and on for 5 minutes about the atrocies
going on in chile. how children/men were captured in the middle of the night never to be seen again. i didnt go there to watch cbs 60 minutes.
at another show, the band was playing "in the name of love" when Bono went on to discuss how nelson madela was being unfairly treated
in a south african prison. who gives a fuck.

i didn't go to a rock concert to see a globalist puppet" discussing social/political issues. He thinks hes the messiah.
Bono, is without a doubt, turned out to be the biggest musical "poster boy" for the globalists. He is a piece of shit and
belongs in Hollywood, with his theatrical acting. Its all part of his holier than thou showmanship that has earned him millions of dollars.

Unforgetable fire- is absolutely brillant. the edges echo laden guitar is joy to listen to.
it should be noted that brian eno and daniel lanois are the producers of this album.
with these 2 guys and u2, they easily hit a grand slam.

Anyway, my personal pick from this album is A Sort of Homecoming, always one of my favourites
