I've never had such mixed feelings aboutba song before.

On the one hand, I hate Dragonforce for doing this. On the other hand, the lyrics are pretty Dragonforce when I think about it. I'm not sure if they ruined this song or not...

...do "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" next

EDIT: also thanks for reminding me that Dragonforce is a thing, that's a name I haven't heard in over a decade

Fuck she covered "You Shook Me All Night Long.". Yikes.

And thanks for reminding me about that song. I heard a cover of it years ago on the radio but I forgot who did it.

Btw...

Most of the highly bizarre covers Iโ€™ve heard are metal covers of non-metal tunes. For example, Amorphis covering Light My Fire during the Tales era, or Thouโ€™s 2 albums of covers this year (one full of Nirvana covers, the other a lot of grunge and alternative + Black Sabbath + a few others). And hereโ€™s one bizarre cover which I love.

Not as unexpected as some of these, but I've been listening through XTC's discography the past couple weeks and I found out they did a cover of All Along the Watchtower that is...out there.

I think I had started a thread like this awhile ago, but here's a few for you. (BTW I love that cover by XTC. That bass.)

It's jumping the gun for my diary, but a few years ago when Weird Al was doing his "Self Indulgent Ill-Advised Vanity Tour" (which I saw) he covered a new song each night. Just songs that he liked. Aretha Franklin's "You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman" was one of them.

Baystate, will have to listen to this on Kurtis Blow's first album.

Here's Mike Patton covering "Glory Box".

This Frank Zappa medley of Beatles songs. Although they changed the lyrics a bit. ๐Ÿ˜

Sorry to always bring everything back to The Fall, but I always found both the idea and execution of a cantankerous Mancunian speedfreak doing a wonky, cluttered, but obviously respectful Sister Sledge cover both wonderful and hilarious. They also manage to change the idea of being "lost in music" from something giddily euphoric into something confusingly disorienting (and maybe even ever so slightly sinister).

But the problem here between Adagio and Dragonforce is that the Dragonforce one FITS and it's almost disturbing. I haven't heard that Firewind one yet, so I don't know if it's a fitting cover or not, but I kind of hope it is for the humor.

Edit: OK, yeah that was pretty fucking good.
