I like it too. As a matter of fact, I still love a lot of songs here: Until The End Of The World, Even Better Than The Real Thing, Ultraviolet, Zoo Station, Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses, The Fly. I've grown tired of One and especially Mysterious Ways throughout the years. Bono might be a preachy rich dude, but they get far too much backlash imo. The classics are the classics. _________________ Overall chart

It's OK U2-wise. Liked the Fly wery much way back when. Mysterious Ways is awful though.

Curious about that. Who do you think this particular LP has influenced?

It's probably the last decent U2 record. Shame.

there was a good stretch of time where seemingly every rock band wanted to sound like u2. even some of their contemporaries (depeche mode, prince, r.e.m., et alia) were outspoken about their inspiration. granted, it wasn't always this particular album, but i feel like it made the rounds. most of the following artists have been pretty vocal about their u2 fandom as well, and i can't see many of these things being what they are without achtung baby:
obviously, "influential" goes both ways. for better and for worse.
also, i'm pretty sure u2 inspired that weird trend where suddenly every rock band had "always" had a dance element to their music.

Love The Fly but otherwise I find it highly overrated and not really a rewarding listen unfortunately.

Daydreamer wrote: | Probably their best. |
Everyone automatically defaults to the Joshua Tree (which is a classic), but i'm in the same camp as daydreamer.
the band, at this time, was experimenting with sound-shaping technology applied to the Edge's guitar and larry mullens drums.
i feel the bands sound is more intricate & articulate than any of their stuff to date.
becuse of this, the album has a deeper musical range-- "zoo station" is very techno grunge, "mysterious ways" is hip=-hop,
"the fly' is a fantastic heavy rock song, "so crueL"- stretches bonos vocals with a good vibe
the whole album is memorable and leaves me craving for more.
