I'm more of an experimental music listener but MJ can be considered experimental is a bunch of ways, can't he?
Anyway, how would you rank his albums?
Personally I'd rank them like this atm:
1. History: it's a very honest piece of work by his standards, and the synthetic psycho funk is viscerally thrilling and well done all the way through. It's his only album that manages to make total sense when heard from beginning to end. A near-flawless album beat-wise.
2. Thriller: Needs no explanation
3. Bad: Dirty Diana >>>>
4: Off the Wall: The second half of the album almost brings the funky joyfulness to a halt but the last song saves it. Classic
4. Dangerous: The first 6 songs make up the worst section of the album. Go figure. Some great songs after that but this is not a classic. Paved the way for the greatness on History though.
5. Invincible: Slept-on album with a few really dope songs, as well as some super cheesy tunes and other stuff.
6. Blood on the Dance Floor: The OG tracks are good
Simplest thing ever, they get worse chronologically!
Off The Wall > Thriller > Bad > Dangerous > HIStory > Invincible
I disagree but I kind of understand where you're coming from. One can hear the carefree joyfulness slowly diminishing album after album. Also more cheesy-sounding "universally appealing" songs that cash in on his worldwide superstar status. Bad and Dangerous can get pretty annoying in this regard. But History always sounded genuine to me. At least as genuine as Michael Jackson ever got. He felt all sorts of fucked up about the pedophilia allegations and it shows.
He still seems innocent to me. Weird guy for sure, but not a child molester.

I don't know man. There were many courts and he was acquitted from all charges. So there's that. But you seem pretty sure he did it. That's why I asked.

Lots of guilty people never get caught. The chances of this happening are significantly higher when said people are rich and/or powerful. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
