you ever just vibe to your mom's favorite jazz record on a rainy day after being sick for a month and being homesick while your parents are in the midst of a divorce hundreds of miles away? That's how I feel about this record

usually I'm not big on vocal jazz/blue-eyed jazz, but Chet Baker Sings really fills a specific spot in a way similar to Peggy Lee, an itch that Sinatra just doesn't tickle. I think perhaps Baker's trumpet playing allows his aesthetic to be more in tune with the jazz I prefer, compared to Sinatra.

His versions of the Gershwins' "But Not For Me" and Carmichael's "I Get Along With You Very Well (Except For Sometimes)" are highlights for me for sure.

Also I think it's a little funny that bassist James Bond stopped going by "James" and started going by "Jimmy" after Dr. No and when the famous fictional character started gaining popularity.

Only discovered this gem two years ago
Its brilliant he can really sing.
What a talented guy.
Shame his life story was so tragic.
But what a brilliant album.
