Banger album. Let's go! Then again any Steely Dan album from there classic period is really enjoyable and can be anyone's favorite.

Not my favourite Dan record, but still a great record. With Kid Charlemagne on it, how could it be anything else? But there are plenty of other fantastic songs on it too! _________________ Top 40 Greatest Music Albums by indieshins

Excellent. A very different, unique album. Even by Dan standards. Lots of cool, dark deep cuts. I'm particularly partial to Don't Take Me Alive.

Great album, maybe my second favorite Dan record after Aja. Kid Charlemagne has to be my favorite Steely Dan song.

Listened to this the other day and again yesterday.
For me it seems very similar to Aja, but just doesn't do anything as well as Aja does. That said, still a solid album from a group of talented musicians. _________________ 51 Washington, D.C. albums!

I’ve probably listened to Steely Dan more than I’ve listened to anybody else over the past year, and this album is the one I think is most unique (from that classic period). This is not a good thing. It’s more theatrical, more silly, more consciously “dark”, more reliant on predictable guitar solos, more Andrew Lloyd Webber, more white than anything else they did in that period. They were always such an unusual rock band, but The Royal Scam feels very much like a 1976 prog-rock album. There are still some great moments, but it’s just very, very silly. In fact, it’s maybe the only one of that classic run that I don’t love. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
