Its hard to label one of the Illusion albums as better than the other. Both have significant highlights, and both have some duds. The album has a collection of tracks in the middle that don't really stand out, but the start and the end are quite strong.

I truly believe had the two Use Your Illusions been condensed into one album (and honestly, it could've been one double album), it would've been an absolutely incredible album.
Stuff like November Rain, Civil War, Yesterdays, Don't Cry, You Could Be Mine, and the Knockin' On Heavens Door and Live and Let Die covers are all fantastic. But then there are trash songs like Get in the Ring, Back Off Bitch, or My World and it really brings down the albums. _________________ Progressive Rock

I definitely echo some of the sentiments already ringing out in this thread. The Illusion albums and GNR in general were some of my most listened records early on in the genesis of me giving a shit about music.
It’s been a long time since I’ve revisited them in full, but the highlights have always been phenomenal for me. Civil War is an amazing opener with some of my favorite Slash licks ever. And even with as melodramatic as it is, Estranged might be their best moment. _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.
