I voted for Narrator the last time but the fact remains that Squid is not really my thing. This while I listened to the album Wet Leg released just a few days ago and where this song is featured and I liked it. So Chaise Longue is my choice.
Holy Hoxton Batman that Wet Leg song is the most mid 2000s thing possible. Donno how I feel about that yet. Squid is perfectly solid. Gonna have to sit with this one for a bit
Narrator I’ve heard way more times and it’s kind of remained just a pretty good song. The musicianship at times is truly great.
That said Wet Leg song here has grown on me. If you’d asked me last week, easy vote for Narrator. But fuck that catchy guitar melody, those vocals, all of Chaise Longue really is just very very charming and cool. And so yeah…
Aargh! My two favourite songs in the tourney (apart from my own noms) matched against each other. Narrator was a top 5 song of the year for me and gets my vote, but Chaise Longue also plaved high in my best songs of the year playlist, so whoever goes through I'll be happy.
Chaise Longue is THE coolest song around - even more than Narrator - and gets my vote.
Funny how I was saying this the other day - that's a comment from the first round matchup, I had no idea fate would pit them against each other right after - and now this happens.
But still, wow, that's a match made in heaven, these are by far the two coolest songs of the tournament, too bad it's only the second round, it would have made a fantastic final.
