Not saying that this is a bad album...but the was such a shock, a complete departure from everything that had made Queen such a great band in the US in the 70's. This was the beginning of safe songs from the band that took more chances than anyone else did. The end of that incredibly unique sound that Brian May got from his guitar. The beginning of the John Deacon domination in the songwriting...before this, it was the style of the other 3. Even the album art was safe. Queen's dominance in America peaked...and ended here. These songs were not what turned us on as young Americans like the tracks from the previous records did. And the fact that Queen did everything from Queen thru Jazz with "NO SYNTHESIZERS" ended this suddenly.
This was not the Queen that we were so in love with. This was the beginning of safe, formulaic, no risk taking safe pop Queen. It was huge in the UK. The youth of America was NOT impressed.
"Another One Bites The Dust"
"Crazy Little Thing Called Love"
...and everything else here.
It's not bad. It's just not... our Queen. _________________ I'm leaning on the threshold
