This is a very solid record in terms of music. 10 solid songs, with good melodies, and interesting instrumentation. The problem lies in the lack of stand out material. Everything here is very simple, and in many ways very 50s. Tracks like Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Save Me, Play the Game, are all nice sounding tracks, but they don't really have anywhere exciting to go. Nonetheless, this is a consistently pleasant listen, with 10 good songs, possibly a few great ones in there too. ***Definitely in terms of Queen's older sound, Dragon Attack comes closest with it's awesome bassline and cool middle eight. All I can remember as a kid was calling into the local radio channel and requesting “Another One Bites The Dust” every hour. The bass on that song alone was hypnotizing. When I finally had the album in my hands that produced this catchy tune, the rest was history. From start to finish, this record changed my life. This record could be released today and still sell millions. It is still fresh after 28 Years!
The first queen album to feature the dreaded synthesizer. In truth, it's not really used that much, and anyway, this is one of the most consistent queen albums ever. As with queen, the singles are always very strong, and the four taken from this album are superb. Crazy little thing called love, save me, play the game, and another one bites the dust are brilliant. Best of the rest? John Deacon's AOR need your loving tonight, the rock funk workout of Dragon attack, and Brian's beautiful rock ballad, sail away sweet sister. All in all, very good from start to finish. One of the band's best.

Song for song this is not only Queen's best album but it has to be one of the most underrated albums of all time

Underrated album by Queen, more pop than they 70s album but that doesn't mean its bad, its a good album with some solid songs
