Based on what's in your all-time Top 100, I'm surprised you'd want to listen to anything from this period whatsoever. (And in all seriousness, this was the beginning of the CD era, so digital production costs priced a lot of eclectic/avant-garde/experimental rock acts completely out of the market until the costs started coming down in the early 90s.)

Still, there's always the Jazz Butcher Conspiracy! Smile

Nice, these two picks are totally off my radar, excited to check them out!

lol that's what's so funny about this, is that if left to my own devices, I really do not. Like sure, there's classics like XTC - Skylarking and weird shit like Kou Machida - Wild And Crazy Guys (HUGE REC), but in general I really don't want to. But I don't think that means I wouldn't like to. There seems to be a wealth of amazing jangle pop that I could totally get into (someone rec'd me The Verlaines and I'm loving that!), and then there's all sorts of jazz stuff, like I can finally start to understand what the hubbub is about Tim Berne (he seems really cool!). So I'm hopeful that this exercise will help spark some interests

Michael O'Shea by Michael O'Shea

I mean— I'd toss in another ten while I'm at it— but here's one—

There are two ways to listen to this album—
1) With your eyes closed
(or, when you must leave your eyes open)
2) Tower speakers with a smooth low-end, slightly louder than usual

A Life With Brian by Flowered Up

I don't know if you know this or would like it but it was a big hit for me when I was 17/18.
Has it stood the test of time?
I'll let you decide.

Circus Animals by Cold Chisel

Maybe the best blues/rock album ever? Chisel were enormous locally but largely unknown internationally

One album from each year. I would try to describe them, but I think the album art for both gives you a pretty good sense for what's inside.

Interesting idea for a thread. I’d suggest;

California by American Music Club

Which is an absolute classic.
