Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.9/100, a mean average of 73.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.1.

Two LA studio musicians who put together and incredible album with great tracks. Where does all of this creativity go after just one album. A loss for us listeners. Sad. (Edited)
There are few albums I score 100 but this is truly worthy of a full score and is a totally unknown if not forgotten album known only among those but a few by the look of this chart. I still have the original tape which still plays ok despite countless plays in the car I owned in the eighties. I was fortunate to pick up a near mint copy on vinyl recently and the listening experience is even more pleasurable. The album is quite dark as noted by other connisieurs of great music but that does add to the magic of this masterpiece.
An album that virtually epitomises the "Lost Classic". A set of really strong, hook laden songs, performed and produced to perfection. It's a mystery what went wrong... These guys split up when they should have been stars and instead ended up as Sheryl Crow's backing band.
Stark, dark and unforgettable. One of the best CDs of the 80's that no one ever heard of. Quarter century later and the lyrics don't sound dated at all.
This was the first CD I ever bought after many years of vinyl. I loved it the first time I heard it & today my opinion remains the same: it's one of the very best albums in my music collection (over 500). If my house was on fire & I could get in & only grab 5 CD's, this would be one of them.
