Coming from a Queen-enthusiast, it’s always a bit of mixed feelings with Sheer Heart Attack. It’s starts off with Brighton Rock and Killer Queen, two of Queen’s greatest songs, and 2 of Brian May’s best solos, showing his great span with the instrument. The medley on the first half isn’t bad, and features a lot of hard fan favorites. But after that, with the exception of Now I’m Here and Stone Cold Crazy (both being more of their best work) it feels like the filler from a double album condensed into one side. It’s a perfect closure with In The Lap Of The Gods…revisited, but it’s just not as good as the rest of their work. Queen as a band by definition is eclectic, but this is just too eclectic to where it loses it. Not a bad album, but the best is still definitely yet to come.
