Oh yes! So many great albums of the day recently!
II remember this one album had track rating average of 88 a few years ago, which very few albums have! But now it has a track rating average of 85 (which is still impressive) due to the lack of many ratings.
This album features Ween being somewhat at their most serious phase (possibly along White Pepper (Although II haven't listened to it that many times to recall...)), which they've successfully proven they can do it.
As Ween has done several times, some songs pay homage to songs by other artists and/or to several music genres:
1. It's Gonna Be A Long Night pays homage to Ace of Spades by Motorhead
3. Transdermal Celebration pays homage to Interstate Love Song by Stone Temple Pilots (II feel like this one is indirect though...)
9. Captain gives Slint vibes because of the slow composition, though the guitar in Ween's song doesn't sound dirty as Slint's. All that can be also said about 13. Alcan Road.
14. The Argus pays homage to 1970s progressive rock, and also 15. If You Could Save Yourself...
II could see Hey There Fancypants be used in SpongeBob SquarePants since you probably know why...
Overall, this album hasn't aged well for me over The Mollusk, but it still a top-quality album on the same level as The Mollusk, displays a more mature side of Ween and it manages to be top-quality enough as it has 15 songs and spans 55 minutes, which is an impressive feat for me that the quantity of songs doesn't bring the quality down that much.
This album is defintely brown!
