The most famous list of the best albums ever (far from being as good as our overall 500 Wink ) will be updated soon.

Kanye West got 3 albums in the new top 500, among them, 353# My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy ! Very Happy , Late Registration #118, and "The College Dropout.

other now well established classic have been included : Funeral, In Rainbows, The Black Album (Jay Z), Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not ...

The album that was already a classic before even it was released, SMILE, was included too (381#).

the top 59 is still unchanged, meaning Sgt. Pepper's still #1

Kid A is the other winner of this 2012 list : now 67# (previously 428#) Cool

Bob Dylan has the highest number of records in the top 500 (12 albums), beating by 2 albums the previous #1, The Beatles.

Ok computer still 162# ...

I'm very intrested to see this updated list, and see the new ranking of Is This It ? (previously only #367 Crying or Very sad )

I haven't seen many of these sort of lists but... I can't say it looks interesting to me. They just seem like they are trying to please everyone. It's just... not genuine I guess.

I can't stand the RS top 500 list.

Incredible that The Stone Roses only just got on there as well, they're about two decades late there. Respect for Only Built For Cuban Lynx though didn't expect that.

Applause Applause

Also, what does it say about Rolling Stone, that they put Kid A so much higher than the first time, especially relative to some other albums from the same era? I guess they had to see some "best of 2000s" charts first, before properly ranking it?

edit: ok where can we see the actual list though? So far the only source seems to be the link that cartoken posted.

Nice to see an album with Leonard Cohen added. But why in the world do they
add this one?:

I was gunna post this, but I couldn't find the list online Think

I actually read the physical magazine of this about a week ago. I wasn't even sure if it was legit though, cause there was no mention of it on their website.

The fact that Mellon Collie was kicked off pisses me the fuck off. I thought it'd be elevated a few hundred spots when they revised it. Ugh Embarassed

MBDTF isn't high enough...but w/e. Tha Carter III & Z shouldn't be on there....

AND WHERE THE FUCK IS IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING & IN THE AEROPLANE OVER THE SEA! Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

BTW, some of the changes Xavygravy mentioned had already been done in the 2005 revision of the list.

I'm curious about how this list turns out, and I think it's good that Kid A will be higher than OK Computer (plus, then their rankings on this new list will also be almost identical to mine Surprised )

It's awesome that Dylan is the new #1, and some of the additions, like Funeral (why they didn't include that in the 2005 revision? Confused ), Modern Times, 69, Smile, Amnesiac, Songs of Love and Hate, and the Kanye albums are good (though that Green River [even if it has to be replaced by Chronicle Vol. 1] and Mellon Collie have been deleted and Tha Carter III and The Black Album have been added disturbs me)
I still think they could have done much better things, like, for example, delete Help! too, or add some more Beefheart albums (TMR being the lone Magic Band record on the list [and that too, so high on the list] is somewhat strange [I mean, at least they could have the decency to add Safe as Milk?]) or maybe the two albums Hayden mentioned.

Let's see what the end result is like, better or worse than the previous version.
