Thought I'd get this one going... looking forward to any suggestions:
The album really became the medium of choice for artists in the late 60s. Consequently, there are some great artists that lack any great albums (expect greatest hits packages). There are also artists that produce loads of great singles and songs, but never seem to be able to assemble them into one seminal album. Some artists may have a great album, but their albums still don't match their overall impact as an artist. These artist often get overlooked on a 'album' focused site such as BEA. Who would you suggest qualifies?
My suggestions (that I can think of now):
Sam Cooke
Otis Redding
Buddy Holly
Elvis
The Supremes
Johnny Cash
Dinosaur Jr.
Willie Nelson
Snoop
LCD Sound System was the first band that came to mind. They don't have one album that rises above being "good," but if you culled the best tracks from their three studio albums you would have one of the best compilations ever made, easily. _________________ I love all music. Willie Nelson
Snoop
Thoughts? :-k
You may have not listened to the right albums? All these seem to have at least one very good record to their credit. Buddy Holly is probably a good call, but I haven't listened to any original album by him, I only have compilations.
