I don't think anyone can deny that all three Portishead albums are gold. Dummy introduced us to what we now think of as trip-hop; Portishead threw the type into a raw production style that made you fear women rather than pity them; Third should be regarded as a kind of confessional like Mark Hollis or Neil Young for electronica

Maybe in America, but in Britain what we now know as "trip-hop" was about from 1991 pal.

I am fully aware of the genre and its sounds but its highlights originate here. No Dummy, no Mezzanine or Tricky solo either

I'd argue Blue Lines are where its' sounds and highlights originate. But each to their own I guess.
