I keep hearing about this album's greatness, but considering how I'm not much of a post-punk fan, I'm not sure if it's worth it.

Might anyone try to convince me otherwise?

I don't get what all the fuss is about with TNSG. Not saying that it's bad - it certainly isn't - and I don't think it's a bad place for someone not au fait with MES and co. to start. Having said that, for lyricism, attack, energy and comedy, I'd personally go for Hex or Grotesque.

I think the Fall have made better albums - Hex and Slates for example. I also think that overall their albums are inconsistent but there all invariably a few gems on each to maintain interest. Most of the seminal versions of their work were produced for the BBC Peel sessions including the brilliant Gut Of The Quantifier found on here.
