I tried to make a poll out of this but the options were too many, so I'm going to post a little link for help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy_Awa...f_the_Year

So... which one is your favorite? I know there's a massive hate for U2 in this forum, but my pick is The Joshua Tree. Though The Suburbs come pretty close as well...

Just looking through these shows what a bad choice Babel was.

I'm not U2 hater, but How To Dismantle An Atom Bomb won in 2006?

Anyway, of all of these Sgt. Pepper is, without a shadow of a doubt, the best album.

Two of the albums are on my overall chart, Innervisions and The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. So one of those two.

It's actually quite discouraging to look at the Grammy's choices. Bland and safe...

Choices I'm OK with:

Sgt Pepper
Tapestry
Concert for Bangladesh
Graceland
Time Out of Mind
Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Speakerboxx/Love Below
Suburbs

Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is the best choice.

That list isn't as bad as I remember it being. I also looked at the nominees, and I'm impressed they chose Time Out of Mind over OK Computer. That's an as surprisingly great choice as How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb over Late Registration is a surprisingly bad choice. Anyway, Lauryn Hill, Sgt. Pepper, the Stevie Wonder albums, Tapestry, Bridge over Troubled Water, and a few others are pretty good.

Looking at these, some are atrocious(Celine Dion, Taylor Swift, Dixie Chicks etc.) but the best is easily Sgt. Pepper although The Suburbs is up there.

It's comically disappointing how bad some of these selections are , especially after leaving the 70s. It's not that i think the albums are bad, but i just don't think they're worth of "best" album of the year at all. They are mostly safe, harmless choices that the masses from your 8 year old cousin to your 80 year old grandpa would all love. A lot of these won WELL after their prime (simulating lifetime achievement awards) -- eric clapton, santana, bob dylan, etc. It's just a joke. The situation is even WORSE when you look at all the other nominees. Sometimes they nominate some decent choices like "ok computer" or "odelay", only to be passed over for the harmless album of the year. Or even worse than that -- 5 picks that are complete, pop drivvel. I'm looking at you lady gaga and katy perry and lady antebellum and eminem's "recovery" and "adventures of mimi". Really??!

They've made some attempts recently to add some more viable "best album" choices in the mix, but the adeles and taylor swifts and mumfords still win more often than not. Arcade Fire winning is a shocking aberration.

I only watch the show if they're loaded with performing artists i like. Otherwise, it's a waste of time. I can be fully-disgusted with the nominees and winners on my own time in passing. I'd much rather watch a few walking dead episodes.

Another bad choice for the winner, that or Mellon Collie should have won instead of Celine Dion.
