There are a good handful of songs that I wish I could hear for the first time again. One of those songs is Bohemian Rhapsody.

Obviously the song has become overplayed to the point of near-absurdity at this point and has become so ingrained in the culture that I'm sure plenty of people are sick of it (I can certainly be in that camp sometimes), but sometimes I think back to being 15 and hearing the song for the first time and how much it absolutely floored me, and I wish I could do that all over again.

My dad actually used to tell me about the first time he heard this album. A friend of his had some friends over and said "oh hey, I've got the new Queen album, check this out," and when they got to Bohemian Rhapsody, my dad said he remembered being stopped in his tracks and thinking "oh...this is something special"

Anyways, obviously this album is way more than just its closing track - You're My Best Friend is such a fun, beautifully sweet love song John Deacon wrote for his wife, which is adorable, while Roger Taylor also wrote a love song...to his car...which is also sweet? I guess?

Also I firmly believe that '39 is one of Queen's best and most underrated songs. It doesn't get the love it deserves.

Side note: part of me wishes they would've kept on naming albums after Marx Brothers movies. Would've been fun to see what Animal Crackers or Duck Soup would've been

I remember getting this album an immediately being hugely pleased with the variety it brought. It's so much more than just Bohemian Rhapsody. I'm always happy to groove into the 12 string styling of '39.

I always love to see love for this record. It’s not underrated at large by any means (just cracked BEA top 100 again for example ), but Queen is too often dismissed as a singles band. A Night at the Opera is so very much the exception to that for me.
