I just listened to this the other day again after so long. I'm not sure how I feel about how technical they tried to be here. "Blackened," "One," and "To Live Is To Die" are amazing tracks though.
And where the hell is the bass on this album? Probably part of their hazing their new member at this time, Jason Newsted. _________________

I still have yet to listen to this. To be honest I really need to give all four Metallica albums new listens, it's been far too long. I don't know when I'll do it, but I'll definitely do it at some point.

My favorite Metallica album. It's ridiculously beautiful.
You're right. The bass is missing. But it doesn't change how great it is.

Meh. The bass that helped their first three rock face is gone (not their fault, but still) and this album really just throws way too much in your face.
That being said, I enjoy most of the tracks individually. As a whole the album is overkill, but track-by-track it's not bad.

Great album, but I'd still rank it behind Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning.

My favourite Metallica album without a doubt, and the only one which I would call near-flawless. All 9 songs are sublime, though "Harvester of Sorrow" might be slightly less-than-perfect.

Metallica is decent, but enjoyable. They've never been in my top tier thrash metal bands and probably range around average. This is their best album.

This album was my introduction into Metallica, and while it's not my favorite Metallica album, it's still a great album. Yea, the sound is a little rough, but there's some really great songs. I still remember being blown away the first time I heard "One". _________________ Progressive Rock
